This documentary presents viewers with a montage of German pop culture produced during the Nazi regime and shows the face of pure evil to have been surprisingly bland. As upbeat tunes about romantic love and heartache are juxtaposed with images of idyllic family units and postcard-perfect landscapes, the point that the filmmakers seem to be making is that the vanilla side of Nazi propaganda helped make the more sinister happenings -- genocide, war machinery -- easier to accept or to ignore.
